Shiatsu is extremely beneficial during pregnancy. Given by a professionally trained practitioner it is safe and non-invasive. The recipient remains fully clothed during treatments. Specific meridians are worked on the mother-to-be to support the processes and changes which occur during the pregnancy, and eases discomfort. Shiatsu can also help treat fertility problems.

Shiatsu is soothing, reassuring and enjoyable. It empowers a woman to feel confident and supported through her pregnancy. It can also address the many problems which may arise, such as the following:

  · morning sickness and nausea
·
anxiety and tension
· fatigue

- sciatica and back pain
· aching hips or legs
· stiffness
· headaches
· cramps
· carpal tunnel syndrome
· digestive problems

· general discomfort

Shiatsu facilitates deep relaxation and is supportive during all stages of pregnancy. Liz gives individual Shiatsu treatments to pregnant women and also runs Birth Preparation Workshops for groups of up to four couples in the days/weeks leading up to the birth.

“I was seeing Liz for a few months before I became pregnant, and continued to receive regular fortnightly treatments throughout the pregnancy, which helped me to stay calm and relaxed. At 38 weeks due to a rise in my blood pressure, I was induced, and gave birth quickly and easily to healthy twins after 2 hours in labour. I would highly recommend Shiatsu to any woman having fertility problems, as well as during pregnancy and after giving birth, to help with relaxation and general support and reassurance. I continue to see Liz on a monthly basis.” Ruth G. [Bristol]
